Renee Edwards MD MBA has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of OHSU Health since January 2018. She oversees the provision of clinical care at OHSU and through its system hospitals, with the goal of ensuring that all patients receive the highest quality care. In this role she also has responsibility for clinical integration through engaging physician leadership, oversight of the medical staff, leading toward the Quintuple Aim in healthcare and optimizing the delivery of patient care and flow across the system. Dr Edwards also serves as the Chief Wellness Officer to collaboratively improve the well-being of the OHSU community.
Dr Edwards has been at OHSU since 1999. Prior to her role as CMO, Edwards served as Co-Director of OHSU’s Center for Women’s Health, Vice Chair of Clinical Operations for the Department of OBGYN, and Division Chief, Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. She regularly sees patients in her Urogynecology practice.
Dr. Edwards received her medical degree from Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois and did her residency in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at Rush Medical Center in Chicago. She received an MBA from Olin Business School, Babson College in Massachusetts in 2010.
Dr. Edwards was selected as a fellow in the 2018-2019 class of the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine Program for Women (ELAM). She has held multiple local and national leadership positions including Chair, OHSU Professional Board, founding member of the Board of Directors for the Council on Patient Safety in Women’s Healthcare and the American College of Surgeon’s Advisory Counsel for Gynecology and Obstetrics. She is a member of the AAMC CMO Group Steering Committee.
