Shaniel Bowen is an incoming School of Engineering Distinguished Postdoctoral Scholar in the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is completing her PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh where she investigated the effects of age and pelvic reconstructive surgery on female pelvic anatomy and function using computational modeling. Her research interests involve characterizing structure-function relationships of pelvic anatomy following gynecologic reconstructive surgery and exploring racial diversity in pelvic anatomy across the adult lifespan.
