I fell in love with medicine as a biomedical engineering student at Michigan Technological University in my home state of Michigan, and knew after college that I wanted to become a physician. After my MD degree at Michigan State with extensive work in global medicine in Hispanic America and Africa, I knew that I wanted to work with underserved minority women, and I sought a residency in Washington, DC, where I could be of use to urban women there. As I wanted to continue to work in an ethnically diverse, underserved population, I was thrilled to be awarded a fellowship in Female Pelvic Surgery at the University of New Mexico and graduated fellowship in 2015. After 4 years practicing in Kentucky, I returned to New Mexico in 2019 to start my lifetime goal of serving their diverse community and learning about how health beliefs affect patient choice of therapy in the delicate personal problems of incontinence, prolapse, sexual dysfunction, and pelvic pain. I have a deep passion for evidence-based medicine and intellectual curiosity about problems that affect women, and I love working with AUGS, SGS, and other societies to further this field.
