Katherine Akeley is a 4th year OBGYN resident at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is from Raleigh, North Carolina and attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for undergrad where she graduated with distinction. She then went on to attend medical school at University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society by her peers and faculty. During medical school she was very involved in volutneering in the Tampa community. She dedicated much of her time to working with Tampa Bay Street Medicine, an organization that provides medical care to the local homeless population. During her residency she has recieved the Society of OB/GYN Hospitalists (SOGH) Award and was elected by her peers as one of the administrative cheif residents. She plans to pursue a career as a generalist in North Carolina after graduation. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and pets, vacations to the North Carolina coast, and exploring the Charlotte food scene.
