Lynn Webster, MD, is an internationally recognized expert in pain and addiction medicine whose mission is to help address the twin crises of chronic pain and addiction in America. He is an ardent advocate for people with disabling pain and deadly addictions. For over 25 years, he focused his clinical practice on helping people who experienced devastating pain and addictions. This experience has given him a unique insight into the medical challenges of fighting both diseases. Dr Webster is devoting the rest of his career to research and public policy, and seeks to improve access to treatment and outcomes for people with pain and substance use disorders. He is Executive Vice President of Scientific Affairs at Dr. Vince Clinical Research in Overland Park, Kansas.
Dr Webster earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Nebraska, completed his residency in the University of Utah’s Department of Anesthesiology, and is Board Certified in anesthesiology, pain medicine, and addiction medicine. He is a past president of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, and is a senior editor of the journal Pain Medicine. He has authored more than 300 scientific publications and abstracts, was a regular contributor to The Hill, and has contributed editorials and interviews to such publications as The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Chicago Tribune, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Salt Lake Tribune, and HuffPost.
A sought-after guest, Dr Webster has appeared on national television and radio networks, as well as local television and radio shows including KSL News, ABC News, NPR, Radio MD, and Health Matters Radio. He lectures extensively and is frequently a keynote speaker. He authored the award-winning book, The Painful Truth (Oxford University Press), and coproduced a critically acclaimed documentary, also called The Painful Truth, that was nationally distributed on public television.
