The number of people living with or surviving cancer continues to grow. Yet many of these patients suffer with ongoing pain, often of unclear etiology, and with limited effective treatment options. Further, many patients do not wish to take more medication post cancer treatment. Integrative Medicine provides excellent options for patients with post treatment pain, and also many of the associated symptoms which impact quality of life; fatigue, anxiety, stress, poor sleep, reduced social interaction and other factors. This presentation will explore and critically evaluate the evidence for safety and efficacy for various non pharmacological approaches to cancer related pain. The presentation will help the clinicians to recognize major medical issues associated with cancer related pain, including but not limited to fatigue, anxiety, sleep dysregulation and social isolation. The presentation will demonstrate evidence based options to reduce or eliminate need for medications for the treatment of various conditions associated with cancer related pain. We will then work to formulate effective implementation plans for utilizing evidence based integrative health and medical interventions and natural supplements for the treatment of cancer related pain Finally we will identify reasonable options for cancer related pain for patients unable to utilize or declining conventional medication.
