In the wake of a national youth mental health crisis, California is transforming the systems that support behavioral health for children and youth with a new five-year $4.7 billion initiative. We’ll explore the strategies, systems changes and cross-sector collaborations being developed to increase access, equity and wellbeing, including how youth engagement is shaping the work. Get an overview of the initiative with examples of local efforts to increase behavioral health services and supports, with an emphasis on school-health partnerships. Ideal for policy makers, advocates, child serving systems, behavioral health providers and educators.

Learning Objectives:

Identify three additional policy and systems change strategies to improve behavioral health of children and youth.
Three strategies for collaboration, systems integration, increasing access to services across the continuum, addressing workforce needs and reducing barriers including stigma, particularly through partnerships between health and education systems.
Describe what youth and families say they want and need in a reimagined ecosystem of behavioral health services and supports.
