988 is the first step in reimagining our crisis response, but there’s more work needed to ensure everyone receives the help they need — and deserve — in a crisis. As crisis services emerge and evolve, communities must answer questions like: What is the most helpful service? Which services are essential, and which are complementary? Learn about the essential value of short-term, community-based, homelike setting with options for multi-day stays that can serve as a step-down from, or alternative to, psychiatric hospitalization.
