Peer Wellness Coach Egyptian Health Department Eldorado, Illinois
Findings from Egyptian Health Department’s (EHD) evaluators indicated that, unlike most Americans, CCBHC-enrolled clients experienced significant decreases in distress and increases in social connectedness during the pandemic. Peers on EHD’s CCBHC Governing Council indicated that relationships they established with each other in group settings were significant to their wellbeing. EHD and its evaluators supported peer leaders as they conducted a study of the degree to which a broader sample of their peers felt socially connected and received support across four life domains. They also examined predictors of perceived support and well-being. Peers will present the study process, methods and results.
Learning Objectives:
List and describe the contexts in which peers reported feeling most socially connected and supported.
Outline at least five core elements of a plan for developing a peer-led study or an ongoing evaluation collaboration with peers at their agencies.
Participants will be able to define meaningful involvement of peers in the context of CCBHCs.
