Thought service providers know how critical it is to tailor prevention services for LGBTQ+ youth and often struggle to identify LGBTQ+ youth and enroll them in services. This is largely due to the lack of safe data collection on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI). We will explore current initiatives on safe SOGI data collection and strategies for balancing documentation and privacy, asking the questions and overcoming personal discomfort. We cannot serve a population we cannot find and until we find them, we will continue to see the disparities and disproportionality of LGBTQ+ youth in our systems of care.
