Amy Sanders is the Manager of Education and Outreach for Mental Health First Aid at the North Texas Behavioral Health Authority in Dallas, Texas.
Bringing over 25 years of facilitation and instructional design experience to her current work of providing mental health education to staff, schools and the community, Amy has been a MHFA instructor since 2014 and was selected for the 2nd phase of the Teen MHFA pilot program in 2019. She is certified to teach all three MHFA curriculum. The North Texas Behavioral Health Authority's MHFA program has delivered training to over 2,000 participants a year in the last 2 years and has a goal of 3,000 in FY2023.
Amy is very passionate about MHFA and especially the teen MHFA program after her youngest daughter’s suicidal ideation her freshman year of high school. Amy has been a public speaker since 2009 and continues to take the opportunity to speak about MHFA or Customer/Patient Experience whenever the opportunity is available.
In addition to MHFA, Amy is also a Master Instructor for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and an instructor for AS+K and Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA).
The North Texas Behavioral Health Authority is the local mental health authority for Dallas, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro and Rockwall counties in North Texas.
