Successfully navigate MHFA, including Military, Veterans and Their Families, in cultures that are particularly resistant to change and entrenched in extreme fear and stigma around reporting mental health challenges. We’ll share examples from the Army Resilience Program curriculum to provide context to MHFA content regarding stigma, confirming how MHFA’s values and intent align with Department of Defense (DoD) philosophy.

Learning Objectives:

Acquire foundational awareness of specific cultural aspects of military service that create resistance to adopting MHFA principles and practices using real world examples from course participants.
Establish clarity and connection between MHFA and DoD sanctioned resilience programs, reinforcing applicability to a recovery-focused process.
Introduce language and concepts for implementation that effectively cut through entrenched resistance throughout the rank structure.
