Research consistently shows that people who identify as LGBTQ+ are two to four times more likely to experience mental health challenges than their straight peers. Join us to better understand language, inclusiveness and the impact of mental health challenges upon the LGBTQ+ community and explore opportunities to create inclusive MHFA learning spaces. There will be opportunities to brainstorm and set professional and/or personal goals to increase awareness and/or be more inclusive and supportive of the LGBTQ+ community.

Learning Objectives:

Discuss foundational inclusive language for the LGBTQ+ community and understand the impact of Queerness with mental health challenges based on lived experience and published data.
Identify ways to incorporate foundational learning of LGBTQ+ inclusive language and actions into MHFA instruction and/or coordination.
Set goals for professional development through allyship to intentionally include the LGBTQ+ community in your professional and/or personal life.
