Imagine a school where every student has a trusted adult they can turn to during a mental health challenge or crisis. What if every teacher, parent, administrator and coach was trained to identify, respond and help students find support? Discover how YMHA can improve academic achievement, staff and student connectedness, parent engagement, school safety and overall school climate. We will offer practical, hands-on tips to plan and manage courses and offer strategies to inspire students, parents, staff and communities to work together to maximize the impact of YMHFA on student mental health.

Learning Objectives:

Ideate strategies to lay the foundation for social, emotional and mental wellbeing for youth in schools and communities.
Discuss ideas and examples of how to organize and present YMHFA courses effectively and efficiently to diverse populations.
Compare case studies from two schools, discuss various challenges and approaches to training staff and parents in YMHFA.
Evaluate the potential impact of training school communities in Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA).
