MP45 - Integrating the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) in Pediatric Primary Care Behavioral Health Practices

Primary care pediatricians lack adequate training and resources to effectively deal with children who have significant behavioral health issues, resulting in overprescribing of stimulants in young children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD) and psychotropics in patients with co-morbid conduct disorders. We will describe the integration of the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) into pediatric primary care behavioral health practices and will address how Triple P can be incorporated into a pediatric primary care behavioral health practice, how Triple P can decrease the use of stimulant medications in children with AD/HD and define ways Triple P can ameliorate mental health and behavioral problems.
