PreventEd's GuidEd program is an early intervention model that has been facilitated over the last eight years. We will provide a summary of issues related to adolescent substance use and specific strategies to address those issues using early intervention program. In addition to discussing the benefits of this program, we will offer strategies to develop, implement, maintain and evaluate an early intervention program.

Learning Objectives:

Describe how an early intervention program can motivate adolescents to reduce substance use and the related harms.
Describe how an early intervention program can assist youth to prevent future referral to treatment, juvenile justice and school disciplinary action.
Define strategies used to motivate adolescents to take action toward making healthier decisions.
