Statewide Opioid Evaluator Texas Health and Human Services Commission Pflugerville, Texas
Over three million Texans live outside major metropolitan areas where health care is concentrated. This is a significant problem for Texans who need medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD). The Texas Targeted Opioid Response has successfully expanded statewide access to MOUD since 2017. We will describe an evaluation assessing geographic access to MOUD, identify ongoing gaps in services and determine how geographic access impacts outcomes like treatment retention. Anyone interested in MOUD treatment, promoting equitable access to services and using geographic information systems (GIS) to identify gaps in services should attend this session.
