TP46 - Disparities in Social Determinants of Health: The Impact of a Pandemic in a Behavioral Health Setting

COVID-19 has disproportionately affected many vulnerable populations, including racial/ethnic minorities and individuals with mental health (MH) or substance use disorders (SUD). We examined the pandemic’s impact on social determinants of health in a sample of uninsured or under-insured adults receiving MH and/or SUD treatment. Past 30-day functioning was also assessed at intake and six-month follow-up. Our findings illustrate the severe impact the pandemic has had on a population already prone to experiencing health inequities, highlighting the importance of engaging them in treatment and providing targeted support, particularly during a public health crisis.
