Members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities continue to face increased racism and discrimination that has led to elevated stress and trauma. Get insights into how best to support members of the community in a culturally responsive manner throughout the country.

Learning Objectives:

Explore the historical and increased trauma experienced by members of the Asian American community and its impacts on their individual and community wellbeing from generation to generation.
Examine how treatment organizations have supported those experiencing mental health issues based on being part of an marginalized community as well as the increased and more open discrimination and racism these communities face.
Identify best practices for outreach to Asian American members of your community.
Discuss the lack of mental health data for the AAPI community and the importance of not viewing the AAPI as a monolith.
Identifying and sharing the dual role and pressures that AAPI therapists face of who are experiencing the trauma and also helping others work through the same fears and racism.
