Onawa Miller, CHES®, CHC, CTRC currently serves as the Tribal Health Program Support Director for United South and Eastern Tribes, INC where she leads the public health authority to serve 33 sovereign federally recognized Tribal Nations from the Northeastern Woodlands to the Everglades and across the Gulf of Mexico. She is also the owner of Abound Health & Wholeness Services, LLC (Abound). Abound exists to provide, through a trauma-trained lens, relevant and effective coaching, consulting, and mental health advocacy services to individuals, groups, and businesses to reduce the impact and prevalence of trauma and enhance the prevention and healing process.
With over 25 years in the health field coast-to-coast, she discovered constant themes laced within the storylines of seeking optimal performance and health that were breached by trauma, particularly in, but not limited to, marginalized communities. This sparked her passion to lead others to find paths of healing and wholeness.
Onawa holds her Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance – Public Health from Austin Peay State University. Additionally, she is an American Council on Exercise Certified Health Coach with numerous specialties, Certified Health Education Specialist®, and a National Council of Mental Wellbeing Mental Health First Aid National Trainer and community instructor. She combines these with being a Certified Trauma Recovery Coach to address the whole human life experience.
From a personal plight for healing, as a survivor of childhood sexual trauma, enduring Lupus since the age of 12, cultural challenges, four miscarriages, and caring for her late father as he battled dementia, she compassionately approaches health and trauma recovery coaching with great sensitivity and understanding to help guide others into living whole, healthy, and unhindered lives - mind, body and soul.
Onawa grew up in Roanoke, VA and it an enrolled Tribal citizen of the Fort Yuma Quechan Indian Tribe and currently resides in the Nashville, TN area.
