Jondell Lafont-Garcia, MA, LPC, is the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Coordinator at Texas Health and Human Services (HHS). She is an adult and youth MHFA instructor, oversees the statewide MHFA training program, trains other state employees in MHFA. Jondell holds a Master of Arts Degree in Health Psychology from Texas State University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. She began her career working in the eating disorder field and then expanded her work to include adolescents and adults with various mental health challenges. Jondell is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and uses a mindfulness-based approach to mental health and wellness.
