Teresa Gomez, MA, is a Certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer in the Adult and Youth Curricula. Teresa was a member of the team which created the "Youth Mental Health First Aid Tribal Communities and Indigenous Peoples" Insert. She is an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Isleta and a life-long resident of New Mexico. Teresa has dedicated her career to serving Tribes and advocating for issues affecting American Indians. In 2006, Teresa served as the Deputy Cabinet Secretary for the New Mexico Indian Affairs Department. Teresa also served as the Deputy CEO for the NM Behavioral Health Purchasing Collaborative. Teresa has worked extensively with Tribal governments and various governmental agencies at the federal, state, and local levels. She has been instrumental in building and strengthening Tribal-State relations and collaboration.
Teresa is a 2-time Ovarian Cancer survivor who has a special interest in policy efforts relating to the integration of physical and behavioral health, psychological trauma, and breaking down barriers between the mental and physical health disciplines for a more effective systems approach.
