Mamun Rahman is a Public Health Educator at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). He has been deployed to NYC's Department of Correction at Rikers Island to bring Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to incarcerated individuals as well as corrections staff since 2017. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mamun served as Regional Director for the city’s vaccination clinics, rounding out three years of pandemic response that included logistics, testing, vaccination, and the monkeypox response. Most recently, Mamun has led the creation of a mental heatlh promotion program focusing on combatting Anti-Asian hate and mental health stimga in the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities. Mamun is an avid believer in the invaluable impact early intervention and mental health promotion to foster lasting community resilience.
