Tymeera Freeman is the TRiO Talent Search Program Coordinator who works with low-income, first-generation students grade 6th-12th with academic enrichment and counseling services in Orange and Newark school district. Tymeera believes that her role as a coordinator and advocate allows her scholars to continue breaking barriers for other low-income and marginalized students. Prior to joining Rutgers University - Newark, she served as a Case Manager at the Salvation Army Shelter. Through this role, she provided case management for independent living plans, social service assistance, locate and make use of appropriate community resources for clients and weekly check-ins with clients. During her time at the Salvation Army, Tymeera also had the opportunity to develop Kinship Wraparound Services resource manual for the entire Essex County. This manual includes but is not limited to all Adult Rehabilitation and Family Shelter Services in Essex County, Free Legal Services, Assistance with Utilities (Statewide), Community Food Pantries, Child Care, Emotional & Behavioral Crisis Management and much more. She is also certified as a New Jersey Social Worker and Youth Mental Health First Aider. Tymeera is a proud member of the Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship devoted to identifying, cultivating, and amplifying change in our future generation through community, leadership, education and research. She is also a member of the Visions of Belle Organization devoted to building and empowering lovely ladies to excel. Tymeera hold a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work with a concentration in Sociology and Women & Gender studies from Rutgers University-Newark. She is also currently getting her Master’s in Social Work at Rutgers University- New Brunswick and expected to graduate in 2024.
