Veronica Martinez serves as Director of the Children's and Adult Mental Mental Health Services unit within the Behavioral Health Services department at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Veronica started her career in mental health as a Certified Family Partner supporting families in the community to promote successful outcomes. Veronica's leadership at the state level started in response to significant natural disasters, including Hurricane Harvey, and mass violence events, including those at Santa Fe High School, El Paso Walmart, and Midland/Odessa. In Veronica's current role, her work centers on helping local mental health systems implement evidence-based care that is responsive to the needs of Texans. Throughout her career, Veronica has used her expertise in person-centered and trauma-informed care to build innovative programs and systems of care that support people through their mental health recovery journey.
