Director of Residential Treatment Services
WestCare Nevada
Las Vegas, Nevada
Irma Magrdichian is a middle child of an immigrant mother from Mexico. She is a first-generation college graduate devoted to working with marginalized populations. Her career began in East Los Angeles, California, at Bienvenidos Family Services as an Alumni representative, a recovery specialist, and a domestic violence advocate. Irma also worked with the California Hispanic Commission as a batterer's intervention provider and an administrator of the "A Better Me" program. She worked with the Department of Family Services to facilitate parent-child reunification.
Relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2011, Irma began her journey serving the community in an outpatient setting where she initiated a treatment program for the underserved Spanish-speaking population.
Currently, Irma works as the Director of Residential Treatment Service at WestCare Nevada's Women and Children's Campus. This role has allowed for a significant expansion of her professional capabilities, as she oversees many programs within the campus. The following programs are under her supervision: a 59-bed substance use program for single, parenting, and pregnant women, a 30-bed transitional housing program for adult women and parenting mothers, an eight-bed female Veteran emergency housing program, and a fatherhood program.
During Irma's seventeen years of working in the behavioral health field, she has participated in several community council boards. She was an active member of the Welfare Advisory Committee Board with California's Department of Public Social Services from 2006-2011. She volunteered as a Parent Partner with the SPA 7 Department of Children and Family Services in the Family-to-Family Mentoring Program (2006 – 2011) and served in the Community Advisory Council with Bienvenidos Family Services in the First 5 LA "Project Escuelita" (2004 – 2011).
Since the start of the COVID pandemic, Irma has taken an active role in the execution, implementation, and application of COVID protocols, policies, and guidelines while overseeing both the women's and men's residential inpatient treatment programs. During these times, she worked tirelessly with representatives of the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public & Behavioral Health, and CDC Foundation. She also took the lead in offering COVID vaccination to clients in both women's and men's programs, hosting multiple vaccination clinics on and off-site.
As evident throughout her professional career, Irma is passionate about serving others, particularly women in recovery. This passion stems from the reality that her personal story mirrors many women seeking opportunities to better their lives and their children's lives.
