Mary Hughes is one of the Office Directors for the Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center (EMCMHC), which operates in the frontier of Eastern Montana. EMCMHC extends across a broad swath of Eastern Montana, serving 17 of Montana’s most rural areas.
She was born and raised in Northeastern Montana, and began her career at EMCMHC in 1988. Mary is responsible for providing access and maintaining resources for those who need mental health and chemical dependency supports via multiple small clinics and telehealth services.
For the past 35 years she has served with a passion for seeing both progress and quality of life improvements for the clients served by EMCMHC. Mary believes that mental health is an everyday issue that everyday people struggle with at some point in their lives. Mary enjoys working to help people, and plans to continue with EMCMHC until she retires.
Among the projects that she has led include the MACT program, Valley Care Coalition and the Valley Emergency Food Bank. Her goal is to bring more affordable housing, sober living environments, and supported work and living complexes to those in need.
Mary is a mother of two and recently became a grandmother. She and husband of 37 years reside in Glasgow, Montana.
