Given the national pediatric mental health crisis, our mental health systems requires a courageous strategic plan and coordinated response. The goal of this workshop is to provide clinicians with innovative strategies to address the barriers in our current systems of care approach. This workshop will highlight case examples and provide strategizes of optimizing community partnership with preventative and crisis response teams, community oriented emergency psychiatry and mobile crisis service delivery; and policy intervention for systems of care (child welfare, justice involved youth, education, public mental health) that focus on the collective health and well-being of children and their families.

Learning Objectives:

Identify the state of the problem and root causes of the child mental health crisis, and areas of potential and effective intervention
Describe the principles of a systems of care approach and utility for responding to the national emergency in child and adolescent mental health
Case presentations to highlight the opportunity in national initiatives like 988 rollout/ implementation, mobile crisis and community based initiatives for implementing SOC approaches
Consider the systems and policy aspects of building community-based interventions to meet the mental health needs of children, youth and their families/ communities
Consider the challenges AND opportunities to address mental health services challenges, such as boarding in emergency services, child welfare and maltreatment, schools, inpatient and community based services continuum and opportunities for addressing the crisis in other child serving systems.
