In this 2-part presentation, you will hear from Ohio and Texas on MHFA implementation.

The Farm Stress team with Ohio State University Extension will share their experiences implementing MHFA in rural and agricultural communities and will outline best practices for recruiting participants, addressing mental health stigma in the industry, and relating MHFA curriculum to unique stressors affecting rural and agricultural communities.

Then, learn how the state of Texas implemented their MHFA program across big cities to the frontier plains, continues to build momentum across the state, and expands their MHFA initiative every year with support from the Texas legislature.

Learning Objectives:

Recognize 3 stressors that can contribute to mental health challenges in the agricultural community.
Identify 5 community partners who support farmers and can be trained in MHFA.
Name 3 mental health resources available to share with the agricultural community in the United States.
Identify outreach and marketing techniques to expand MHFA across your state, and learn how to identify funding to expand your program.
Describe how to create collaborative partnerships with community organizations, businesses, educational entities, and fellow Instructors.
