MP1 - Demonstrating Integrated Social Determinants of Health Impact in Behavioral Health

Research shows that a person’s environment significantly influences risk for substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health, yet community-based recovery environment resources are not consistently utilized or accessible in the continuum of care. Recovery residences provide safe and supportive environments to help initiate and sustain recovery from co-occurring conditions and are a potentially important, yet understudied, component of the care continuum. We will review longitudinal data collected from over 5,000 patients participating in a treatment model combining clinical co-occurring treatment services with community-based recovery environments. The results demonstrate improved recovery outcomes across a range of clinical SUD/mental health markers.
