MP51 - Outpatient Biopsychosocial Services for People with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities Pilot Project

Outpatient biopsychosocial services (OBI) for people with intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD) seeks to enhance access, quality and delivery of mental health services for people with IDD using a novel biopsychosocial approach. Find out how a lack of equity in mental health care impacts this population, how trauma histories are often overlooked or misdiagnosed, the importance of knowing the unique communication/language needs of each client, how common therapeutic modalities are being adapted for people with IDD and how the basic tenets of OBI can be easily implemented to improve wellbeing of this often overlooked population.
