President
Asian Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA)
Candice Wing-yee Mack is the manager of systemwide Young Adult Services for the Los Angeles Public Library and is wrapping her term as president of the Asian Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA). She is an incoming Member-at-Large of the Public Library Association's Board of Directors and an adjunct instructor in UCLA's Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. Candice has also served as past president of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), is a former reviewer for Booklist, a 2012 ALA Emerging Leader, and a 2006 ALA Spectrum Scholar. Her passions for connected learning, social justice, child and adolescent development, and an unusual coincidence led her to pursue teen services librarianship and advocacy and served her well as an inaugural member of ALA's Policy Corps, a member of the 2018 We Need Diverse Books Walter Dean Myers Award Jury, and a member of the 2018 Will Eisner Comic Industry Award Jury.
