Building Campus Partnerships through LibraryCon

Does your library programming feel stale? Are you having a hard time drawing new users into your library? Do you want more faculty participation in library outreach? The Resnick Library at SUNY Delhi has had great success drawing the campus community to the library with LibraryCon! LibraryCon is a ComicCon-inspired event where fandoms of all kinds come together to celebrate their shared passions. Our LibraryCons have featured talks and demonstrations by faculty and staff, costume contests, trivia, crafts, giveaways, a caricature artist, a lightsaber demonstration by a student, and more! Planning and hosting a large event like a LibraryCon can seem daunting, but the result is worth the effort! We will discuss some of the benefits of LibraryCon and break down the planning process. LibraryCon is successful because it draws on the passions of library and university faculty and staff. Almost everything you need to host LibraryCon already exists at your institution!
