Attend this session to learn how University of California Irvine Libraries leveraged their existing chatbot to create bANTerbot, an automated collection promotion service with an emphasis on books by Authors of Color. Speakers will trace bANTerbot from idea to implementation, focusing on workflow, results, and suggestions for improvement. Attendees will engage in a discussion on ways to implement a similar service or adapt elements to suit their own patron and staff needs on desk or via chat reference.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the components of a successful automated Reader’s Advisory Service.
Apply relevant elements of the bANTerbot workflow to their own institution.
Reflect on methods of responding to EDI related Readers Advisory requests.
