Dr. Philip Fidler currently serves as the Director of Education for the Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America and has been a board certified surgeon in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care for more than 23 years. Early in his career, Dr. Fidler completed a fellowship in Trauma and Critical Care at Yale University and a second fellowship in Burn Surgery at Harvard University. As an associate professor at Georgetown, he continued his medical education training by completing the rigorous coursework required to attain the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Medical Education Research Certificate. Despite this background in academia, Dr. Fidler felt the calling to study education science. He believes effective educators must go beyond just “giving a talk” and takes great pride in prioritizing the student’s acquisition of knowledge. “There is a science to teaching, and it’s a great privilege and joy to impart those lessons upon new educators.”
