The Mark Filsinger Chamber Big Band is an 11-piece jazz ensemble based in Buffalo NY. The group performs original compositions and arrangements that include bebop lines, counterpoint, shout choruses, and plenty of space for improvisation. Their debut album, Groovin High, was released in April 2022 on Buffalo Jazz Collective Records and received significant radio play around the United States, Canada, and Europe peaking at #22 on the NACC Jazz Chart. The group has performed at many festivals, schools, and cultural institutions around Western New York. In addition to performing, leading, and writing for the Chamber Big Band, Mark Filsinger is a versatile trumpeter, composer, and educator. He is Artistic Director of the Buffalo Jazz Collective and Associate Professor at SUNY Buffalo State.
For this performance, the group will perform music from their album, Groovin High, with speial guest saxophone soloist, Brad Leali. In addition to teaching jazz saxophone at University of North Texas, Brad has performed, recorded, and toured throughout the world with his own projects and groups such as The Count Basie Orchestra, Harry Conick, Jr, and Lyle Lovett & His Large Band.
