Allie Biancoviso is a trombonist, composer, and educator from Staten Island, New York. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Jazz Pedagogy at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami where she studies trombone with Professor Dante Luciani. She earned a bachelor's degree in Music Education and studied trombone under Professor Mark Lusk at the Penn State School of Music. In 2022, Allie received the Penn State Margot Music Fund Jazz Award. Allie was also the recipient of the 2022 Jazz Education Network Hal Leonard Scholarship.
In 2021, Allie began research focused on ways to create inclusive classroom environments for women in jazz. Her work was selected to be presented at the 2021 New York State School Music Association and 2022 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Conferences. She was recognized by the PMEA Society for Music Teacher Education with an Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Research.
Allie is a founder of the Penn State Women in Music Organization which aims to provide professional and personal development opportunities for female-identifying and non-binary music students. In 2020, Allie was selected to be a participant in both the Women in Jazz Organization’s Mentors Program and The International Women’s Brass Conference’s Mentorship Program where she studied with Jennifer Wharton, Kalia Vandever, and Andrea Neumann.
