Andrew Peal is a trombonist, educator, and composer. He is professor of Jazz and Music Theory at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Previous to his role at ABAC, he earned a DMA at the University of Miami Frost School of Music as a Henry Mancini Fellow. During his time in Miami, Peal performed with the South Florida Jazz Orchestra (The Music of Gary Lindsay: Are We Still Dreaming, and Cheap Thrills: The Music of Rick Margitza), the Frost Studio Jazz Band, Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, Danny Seraphine's CTA, Bay Kings Band, Tony Succar, and the Raices Jazz Orchestra. While a part of these ensembles, Peal performed with renowned artists such as Randy Brecker, Kevin Mahogany, Arturo Sandoval, John Hart, Brian Lynch, Janis Seigel, Nicole Yarling, and Gregg Field.
Peal instructed undergraduate and high school jazz combos and provided teaching feedback to music majors during his time as a graduate teaching assistant. He taught jazz combos for Young Musicians Unite and directed jazz and wind ensembles for the Brownsville Unity Music Project.
Peal composes and arranges music for various ensemble configurations such as jazz quartet, sextet, trombone quintet plus rhythm section, and big band. Recently he was commissioned to arrange music for the Matt Wigler Band from Miami.
