Jim began playing professionally as a substitute player with the Florida Orchestra in his sophomore year of college. At Northwestern he studied under Frank Crisafulli, the second trombonist for the Chicago Symphony. After graduation, he continued to play professionally, freelancing for some of the biggest
acts to come through the Tampa Bay area, including Liberace, Bernadette Peters, The Temptations, and the Four Tops. To this day, he remains active in the arts community. He has been a member of the Jazz Surge for 25 years.
Jim Hall, is a registered Professional Engineer with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, he also holds a bachelor and master’s degree in bass trombone performance. More recently, his name was added to the U.S. Patent Office, residing among names like Henry Ford and Alexander Graham
Bell, for the product of his creative fusion, accelerated aging process for acoustic stringed instruments.
He curretnly works for Wade Trim designing Instrumentation and Control Systems and Electrical Systems for Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems.
