Danny Gottlieb has been a professonal musician for more than 50 years. He was a founding member of the original Pat Metheny, and has recorded on more than 500 cds, including 12 Grammy nominated recordings and 4 winners. He has performed or recorded with Gary Burton, John Mclaughlin, Bobby McFerrin, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Airto and Flora Purim, Pat Coil and many more. He also co-founded the group Elements with former Metheny bassist Mark Egan. Danny has been a member of Chuck Owen's Jazz Surge for more than 20 years, and participated in recordings that were nominated for 7 Grammy Awards. For past 18 years, Danny and his percussionist wife Beth have been members of actor/bassist/ philanthropist Gary Sinise's Lt. Dan Band, and they have performed more than 500 concerts around the world for Military and first responder charites through his Gary Sinise foundation. Danny has been a member of University of North Florida music faculty since 2005, and is a Full Professor of Jazz Studies.
