Laura is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and National Certified Counselor, currently employed as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Purdue University School of Nursing in West Lafayette. She teaches clinical psychiatric nursing and provides lecture content for Bachelor of Nursing students. Laura teaches psychiatric specialy content including psychiatric diagnosis, psychotherapy skills, and psychiatric medication management to nurse practitioner students in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practioner Master's degree program. She also provides the psychiatric specialty content for nurse practitioner students in the Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner MS program. Laura has 20 years experience as owner of her private practice providing both psychiatric medication management and psychotherapy in Lafayette, Indiana. She has provided care for all ages, from infant/caregiver pairs in attachment focused therapy to those at the end stages of life. She has training and experience with a number of psychotherapy approaches including EMDR, Theraplay-inspired attachment therapy, play therapy, CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing. Treatment has been provided for a broad range of conerns including particular interest in recovery from PTSD and complex trauma, marriage/relationship issues, attachment and adoption adjustment, grief and loss, mood disorders, ADHD, Autism spectrum and spirituality. Laura has provided consultation to organizations regarding the resolution of interpersonal and mental health issues among their staff and members. Her educational background includes a BS in nursing, MS in Mental Health Counseling, MSN in Child/Adolescent Psychiatric/Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, Post-Graduate Certificate in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice.
