For thirty-eight years, Dr. Scott has been a healer who walks the fine line between mysticism and evidenced-based arts psychotherapy. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LPCC917) in California, certified as an interfaith spiritual director, energy healer, international substance use counselor, and dually certified as a creative and expressive arts therapist. In addition, she is an international bestselling author, bricoleur artist-poet, and keynote speaker.
Dr. Scott is a fellow for the oldest trauma organization in the world, The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD).
Dr. Scott's academic writing and research have been published in trade magazines, professional newsletters, textbooks, and peer review journals.
Dr. Scott's research regarding dissociation and self-mutilation was published in the Journal of the Arts in Psychotherapy in 1999 (UCLA). In 2006, a textbook chapter entitled, Integrating the Creative Arts into Trauma and Addiction Treatment, which included her theory, was published by Haworth Press in The Psychology of Trauma and Addiction. In 2018, she was the lead co-author for two chapters in the book, Integrative Addiction Recovery, published by Oxford University Press and recognized as an Andrew Weil, MD library series book. In addition, Dr. Scott taught creative and expressive arts therapies for the Andrew Weil Center of Complimentary Medicine at the University of Arizona for eight years. Dr. Scott was also granted the Sierra Tucson's Alumni Recognition award in 2006 for her work as a trauma therapist.
She has designed and facilitated art psycho-educational and creative arts therapeutic workshops for many decades. She has been recognized for her original, unique, and powerful educational and healing experiences for museums, colleges, and mental health treatment.
