Alexis Arbuthnott, Ph.D., R.D.Psych., is a clinical psychologist with the Saskatchewan Health Authority in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She completed her PhD in the Clinical Psychology: Applied Developmental Emphasis program at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario. Her accredited predoctoral internship was with the London Clinical Psychology Residency Consortium in London, Ontario, where her rotations included the Relational Trauma Services and the Residential/Intensive Service at the Child and Parent Resource Institute. She has experience providing psychological assessment and intervention with children, adolescents, adults and families across the continuum of outpatient, acute inpatient, and residential care. Dr. Arbuthnott's current position with the Saskatchewan Health Authority is at the Adolescent Psychiatry Unit at the Regina General Hospital. Here she is involved in direct client care within a multidisciplinary inpatient team, she provides supervision to clinical psychology graduate students and psychiatry residents, and she provides consultation to other mental health professionals and community agencies. With these platforms, she is a strong advocate for compassionate and collaborative trauma-informed care. She is also an Assistant Professor with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Saskatchewan and a member of the Canadian Psychological Association. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Arbuthnott has taught courses in personality psychology at the undergraduate level at the University of Guelph, she has published research and presented on the topics of nonsuicidal self-injury and equipping parents to support youth with complex mental health needs, and she is currently conducting research on trauma and dissociation among youth within an inpatient setting. She also volunteers her time on several ISSTD committees and as part of the leadership teams for both the Inpatient and the Child and Adolescent Special Interest Groups.
