Tory is currently a fourth year Doctoral Candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the Counseling Psychology PhD program. Tory's work to date clinically and academically have been centered around the study and treatment of trauma within a variety of settings and age ranges. Tory is currently completing her qualitative dissertation with a local indigenous tribe through a partnership that focuses on eradicating suicide within the community. This partnership utilizes a process called Life Reviews which is a culturally adapted version of psychological autopsies in order to evaluate factors surrounding completed suicides fifteen years retrospectively that occurred in the community. This partnership aims to create culturally congruent prevention, intervention, and post-vention services within the community. Additionally, Tory is completing clinical work with the tribal community clinic through an adjacent aim of the overall partnership that focuses on historical, generational, and complex trauma and substance use services. Tory has completed clinical work at the Milwaukee VA working with individuals who have experienced a combination of military, sexual, and developmental trauma in the Trauma Specialization Outpatient Unit. Additionally, Tory has completed clinical work with adolescence who have experienced interpersonal trauma. Tory's work focuses heavily on relational psychodynamic work and also utilizes trauma focused treatments such as EMDR and DBT. Tory has increasingly gained interest in working with and researching personality disorders as they relate to developmental trauma. Tory hopes to continue this work as an early career psychologist specializing in the treatment of interpersonal trauma. Outside of work, Tory is the mother of two young children and spends most of her available time with her children either creating art, getting outside, or reading.
