Katherine Reuben obtained a Master's in public health in 2021 from Georgia State University, where she is currently a doctoral student in the Health Promotion and Behavior concentration. During her time in the MPH program, Katherine was the student lead on program evaluation for SafeCare Georgia - a child maltreatment prevention program - and Projects Intersect and Envision, which aim to improve clinical responses to and mental health of commercially sexually exploited and trafficked youth. Her current research assistantship is for the evaluation of a new National Center for Child Trafficking. Her trainings primarily relate to research conduct and responding to child maltreatment.
Katherine is first author on several publications related to the unique risks and outcomes of interpersonal victimization for autistic individuals, including a paper on the correlates of posttraumatic stress disorder and predictors of a professional PTSD diagnosis as well as a book chapter on dissociation in autism spectrum disorders. Katherine is also an author on several publications related to SafeCare, a paper on childhood polyvictimization, and a book chapter on child trafficking. She is currently working on a qualitative study to understand dissociative experiences and perceived dissociation causes in autistic adults. She has also presented qualitative data on therapy experiences for adults with complex dissociative disorders. She has written and presented on these topics for professional and lay audiences, including through an interview for the YouTube channel of Dr. Mike Lloyd and through her website, DID-research.org.
Katherine joined the ISST-D in 2021 in order to contribute to and help edit the upcoming treatment guidelines for emerging adults. She also joined the Public Health Committee and is the chair for the Neurodiversity and Dissociation Special Interest Group. She won the Student Award in 2022.
