Abstract: This presentation will focus on foundational AAC skills that we need to teach children who are in the Early Intervention program and are struggling to imitate words, express themselves, and communicate their wants and needs.
Summary of Presentation : Participants will learn what strategies and tools to use in sessions with children who are younger when teaching them AAC. We will discuss how to introduce AAC to complex communicators and how to incorporate visuals to help teach children to communicate. Participants will gain new ideas and tools to build engagement, improve communication skills, and incorporate visual tools to teach language.
