Laura J. Sambrookes-McQuade, SLPD, CCC-SLP, (she/her) graduated with her Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology degree from Northwestern University in March 2021. Dr. Sambrookes’ doctoral work focused on investigating which teaching strategies best support the health profession education student’s ability to deliver “bad news” to caregivers and their support network. Her doctoral work’s long-term vision focuses on informing how Speech Language Pathologists are taught to share “bad news” with an emphasis on supporting the development of long-term, positive, compassionate, empathetic relationships with caregivers and their support network through research and curriculum development.
Dr. Sambrookes is the founder and Speech Language Pathologist at Aurora Pediatric Therapy and Integrative Health (APTIH). APTIH is an outpatient pediatric clinic that provides allied healthcare services to children and their caregiving support networks in the Aurora/Naperville area and surrounding communities.
