Lissa Power-deFur, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, BCS-CL, ASHA-F, is is a professor emerita of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Longwood University, Farmville, Virginia where she was instrumental in starting the graduate program and speech-language hearing clinic. She previously served as a director in special education and student services and policy analyst at the Virginia Department of Education. She has been an active volunteer for the professions, serving on committees for the Speech-Language-Hearing Association of Virginia (SHAV) and ASHA. She served on the ASHA Board of Ethics, as SHAV's President, and ASHA's Vice President for Standards and Ethics in Speech-Language Pathology. She has written and presented extensively on ethical and education topics. he has worked as an expert witness (co-authoring a book on the topic with Brenda Seal).
