Abstract: Legislation and billing trends change frequently, impacting patient care, services and reimbursements across all work settings. Members of the Billing/Reimbursement committee will present this panel discussion to navigate current billing trends across all work settings to improve reimbursement and advocate for patient care. The Facilitator/Moderator will introduce a topic/issue and each presenter will provide an answer the question from the perspective of their respective work setting. Then, questions from the audience can be accepted and answered by one or more presenters.

Summary of Presentation : Members of the Billing/Reimbursement committee will present this panel discussion to navigate current billing trends across all work settings to improve reimbursement and advocate for patient care.

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

Upon completion, the participant will be able to review coding information and discuss current billing trends, recognize the potential for competition by other service providers, recognize billing/reimbursement issues on social media, and learn how to use social media to advocate for increased reimbursement. Denial of reimbursement claims, how to appeal, and relevant resources will also be discussed.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to list skills that will strengthen their abilities to negotiate reimbursement rates by exploring opportunities to improve reimbursement, and by identifying relevant resources.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to explore advocacy strategies for patients and families across practice settings (including SNFs, Outpatient, Hospital/Pediatrics, Schools, EI), networking and coverage strategies,.
