Abstract: The presentation will focus on updates that impact practice as a Speech Language Pathologist or Audiologist within the work setting of the schools, including new rules regarding Early Intervention that impact the workload of the school-based SLPs and Audiologists.

Summary of Presentation : Members of the School Affairs Committee will discuss legislation, policies, and practices that impact workload and work flow of SLPs and Audiologists within the school setting as a Student Support Team Member. They will provide updates regarding implementation of legislation that impacts practices within the schools, discuss workload models, and engage in problem solving discussions regarding effectively serving students within the school setting and documentation of such work to meet local, state, and federal guidelines.

Upon completion, participants will be able to describe how legislation impacts the requirements of the SLP and Audiologist as it relates to provision of services and related documentation within the school setting.
Upon completion, participants will list rules related to students exiting Early Intervention and beginning school based services and how to properly document parental choices as part of the Child Find Process.
Upon completion, participants will be able to engage in the probelm solving process to increase focus on provision and supports of students with speech language and hearing impairments within the school setting.
